Later in 2022, Avid launched a free version: Pro Tools Intro. New users have to choose between three new plans: Pro Tools Artist, which costs $9.99 per month or $99 per year Pro Tools Studio, which costs $39.99 per month or $299 per year and Pro Tools Flex, which costs $99.99 per month or $999 per year. In 2022, Avid switched Pro Tools from a perpetual license to a subscription model. The software and the audio engine were adapted to 64-bit architecture from version 11. Current HDX hardware systems, HD Native and native systems use 32-bit floating-point resolution for plug-ins and 64-bit floating-point summing. The Pro Tools TDM mix engine, supported until 2011 with version 10, employed 24-bit fixed-point arithmetic for plug-in processing and 48-bit for mixing. It features time code, tempo maps, elastic audio, and automation supports mixing in surround sound, Dolby Atmos and VR sound using Ambisonics. Pro Tools has incorporated video editing capabilities, so users can import and manipulate high-definition video file formats such as XDCAM, MJPG-A, PhotoJPG, DV25, QuickTime, and more. The legacy SDII format was dropped with Pro Tools 10, although SDII conversion is still possible on macOS. It imports and exports MOV video files and ADM BWF files (audio files with Dolby Atmos metadata) it also imports MXF, ACID and REX files and the lossy formats MP3, AAC, M4A, and audio from video files ( MOV, MP4, M4V). Pro Tools supports mixed bit depths and audio formats in a session: BWF/ WAV (including WAVE Extensible, RF64 and BW64) and AIFF. 16-bit, 24-bit, and 32-bit float audio bit depths at sample rates up to 192 kHz are supported. Audio effects, virtual instruments, and hardware emulators-such as microphone preamps or guitar amplifiers-can be added, adjusted, and processed in real-time in a virtual mixer. Like all digital audio workstation software, Pro Tools can perform the functions of a multitrack tape recorder and a mixing console along with additional features that can only be performed in the digital domain, such as non-linear and non-destructive editing (most of audio handling is done without overwriting the source files), track compositing with multiple playlists, time compression and expansion, pitch shifting, and faster-than-real-time mixdown.Īudio, MIDI, and video tracks are graphically represented on a timeline. The DSP is used to provide additional processing power to the host computer for processing real-time effects, such as reverb, equalization, and compression and to obtain lower latency audio performance. Pro Tools operates both as standalone software and in conjunction with a range of external analog-to-digital converters and PCIe cards with on-board digital signal processors (DSP). It is used for music creation and production, sound for picture ( sound design, audio post-production and mixing) and, more generally, sound recording, editing, and mastering processes. Pro Tools is a digital audio workstation (DAW) developed and released by Avid Technology (formerly Digidesign) for Microsoft Windows and macOS. It doesn't completely smooth judder in pans or in objects moving across the screen. The Low setting, which is the default for Bright Cinema, is worth looking at even if you don't usually like frame interpolation. Or set it to Medium or High for live or recorded video where the digital video effect can improve the sense of being in the presence of the performers. It also saves the current setting for features like frame interpolation, which you might want to set on Low for filmed material if you don't like the digital video effect the more aggressive settings can produce. Each customized mode and memory setting even saves the current lamp brightness, so you don't have to change it separately. You can also adjust settings to taste, customizing each of the predefined modes and saving up to 10 additional custom settings in memory. There are some subtle variations from one mode to the next, but most people won't notice them without switching back and forth between modes to look for the difference. Colors are vibrant and well saturated in all four modes and well within a realistic range. Dynamic mode has a slight yellow-green tint in the brightest shades, but not enough to be a problem. The higher contrast ratio also gives colors more pop and increases picture depth, or a sense of three-dimensionality.Ĭolor balance is spot on in three of the four predefined color modes, with neutral grays at all levels from black to white. Also helping is that the 3100 delivers deeper blacks in all modes than less expensive 3LCD models, and with improved contrast, shadow details are opened up and better defined. The three-chip 3LCD design guarantees there won't be any rainbow artifacts and ensures there's no difference between color and white brightness, which might affect color quality or the brightness of color images. The 3100's four color presets-Dynamic, Bright Cinema, Natural, and Cinema-all deliver solid video quality without any tweaking. Though marketed under the "Home Cinema" moniker, it is easy to imagine the HC3100 showing up in a lot of sports bars as it produces sufficient light, a high quality HD 1080p image, and excellent installation flexibility, all for a modest sum compared to most projectors competing for that same market. (And if you need still higher brightness, check out our review of the Epson Home Cinema 3700, a near twin to the 3100.) You can use the 3100 to light up a screen as large as 200" diagonal in a dark theater setting, or 130" diagonal in a room with low ambient light. Even in its Cinema modes with the lamp set to the lowest power Eco our test unit pumped out close to 1400 lumens, and it puts out over 2000 lumens with the lamp on High. So the 3100, right in the middle at $1299, represents excellent bang for the buck.Īnother key to the value of the HC3100 is its lumen muscle. On the other hand, the 3100 is just a small step below the Epson 3900 in image quality, but it is a whopping $700 less. But in side-by-side viewing, the 3100 delivers far more vibrant color and visibly better contrast. If you view the 2040 or 2045 by themselves you'll find little to complain about-they are impressive projectors for the money. Ultimately, the key to the Epson 3100's superb value is its image quality. While the 20 offer only a 1.2x zoom and no lens shift, the 3100 gives you an array of features including a 1.6x zoom lens, vert+horiz lens shift, gamma settings, picture-in-picture, Epson's Super Resolution for enhancing detail, and panel alignment control to manually adjust three-chip convergence, all of which are features found on Epson's pricier Home Cinema 3900 at $1999. But the HC 3100 is also a big step up in performance and features. In Epson's current line of home theater projectors, the Home Cinema 3100 at $1299 is a step up in price from the entry level Home Cinema 2040 ($799), or its sister model the HC 2045 which adds Miracast and WIDI. You can tell that a lot of love went into making the game, but that doesn’t necessarily result in something indisposable or memorable. It serves more as a tribute to the Double Dragon series but more in an aesthetic sense, as the combat system is unlike any of the previous games. It doesn’t really feel like it’s trying to be revolutionary in any way, nor does it seem like it wants to present you with a glut of content. I think that sort of outlines what a small production Double Dragon Gaiden is. Head to Japan as Billy or Jimmy Lee and rescue Marian from the Renegades. It’s things like “prioritize this dude first” or “try to group enemies together so you don’t get overwhelmed.” C’mon, guy. I’m not the type to listen to music or view art within a game, and the hints are things you probably already know or could figure out in a single playthrough. I only found value in one of those things. You have four types of things you can buy: characters, hints, art, and music. You might think this would add a roguelite element where you buff your favorite characters between runs, but it totally isn’t. These tokens can be used in a store to buy various things. On the other hand, there’s a lot of focus on gaining money that you exchange at the end of each run for tokens. When your main fight-person goes down, you have your second choice to back you up. You can only trade out when your special gauge is full, and there aren’t really any tag combo opportunities, but, at the very least, it works as a decent life system. The single-player portion of the game also utilizes a tag system, which means that you’ll always have double dragons that you can swap between. This means that, yes, you can play as Abobo. Beyond Jimmy, Bimmy, Marian, and Uncle Matin, you can also unlock all the bosses and sub-bosses. On that note, I do think it’s kind of strange that there is no CRT filter option, but I might be one of the few people who care about that sort of thing.Īnd for as lacking as the combat is, you at least get some variety from all the characters. It feels very arcade-y, and adds to the impactfulness of the combat. The music is decent, but the way that Double Dragon Gaiden screams at you in support of what a good job you’re doing is key. The aesthetic is supported by the sound design. SHARE VEGAN RECIPES Share your delicious vegan recipes with the Vkind Community on our app and website. The first thing you need though is the plastic base material if you trim router does not come with a square base. I find it is easier to make the hole for the base first, then make the base to fit the hole, which is why I did the cutting in that order. For my top, I selected 17 x 12 inches, and as for the height, all that really matters is that your trim router fits underneath with a bit of room, and if you have a battery operated unit, you may need a bit more height.īecause my trim router only came with a round, flush base that of course would not sit in a router table, I needed to make myself a square base out of plastic. If you expect to get lots of use out of the table, making a laminate top would make the table top last longer that an un-laminated top.įor size, you can pick what ever works for you, and you can pick what ever material works for you too, but bear in mind that you will need to have leveling screws for the router base so you will want something that will hold those screws without them stripping in a thinner stock (but laminating a strip of plywood underneath would be a good alternative). For this smaller version, I am expecting more limited use and so I am still using MDF for the top, but in this case I did not laminate the top. That top had laminate glued to id because I expected to be using bigger wood and it would also get more use. Some time ago I made a series of videos on how to make a standing router table and top. I would estimate that with my parter router and router table, at least 80 to 90 percent of what I do with that router involves using it on a router table, whether it's building doors, trimming wood of cutting rabbets or dados, so I expect the same would be for the trim router, which is why I decided to build this portable table for it. Since those days, counter top manufacturing has evolved and laminate trimmers are seldom used for the purpose they were designed, but there are still good uses for these smaller router versions.Īny router, full size or hand router, can do much more when it has the benefit of a router table. The sheep material always stuck out over the edge so that it could be trimmed off even with the edge of the counter, and this was the original purpose of the Laminate or Trim Router. After the cabinets were made and installed, the counter tops and the back of the sheet laminate material were coated with contact cement and bonded together. The main purpose of the "Trim Router" was back in the day when cabinet makers were building kitchen cabinets, a newly invented material was being used for counter tops and it was called Laminate. True, they are limited in their abilities, but with some add-on jigs and accessories, Trim Routers can be a useful item. But Trim Routers or Portable Routers can be a nice alternative in a woodworking shop for people who don't have full size routers. Trim or Laminate Routers have been around for many, many years but there are very few manufacturers because they just aren't as popular as they could be, simply because they are small, low powered and limited to 1/4 inch bits only. So, I decided to contact Amazon customer support to see who sets these prices. Also, when it wasn’t the same, the price differences were never consistent, so its doubtful its taxes. I wasn’t convinced as some books in the US were the same price for people who lived in Thailand. maverick_house: I’ll double check all of this but I suspect this is taxes.maverick_house: I’m pretty sure it’s taxes or Vat.I contacted the publishers, Maverick House, via their twitter account. Some were the same others were more expensive if your ip address is in Thailand. I tried again for some books in the bestseller list. Here the prices were the same for the US and Thailand. Then I thought that maybe taxes were different in the two countries. The reason that I bought a Kindle was so that I could get the latest books from without paying for shipping. Now, this seemed strange as there are no shipping costs involvded. It was then that I spotted that the price of the book jumped to $9.50! The last shipping address that I used was in the US and obviously they saw from my ip address that I am in Thailand. I went to click on “buy” and to my surprise I was told that there was a a problem with my “listed country”. And of course I am saving on shipping costs. The price at was $7.50 which is not a bad price compared to the paperback version which is listed as $12.80. But then, last night I went to buy a new Kindle book called “Muay Thai Fighter” by Paul Garrigan and had a shock. There are often special sales for Kindle books and I have been reading many of these lately. I like the convenience of reading on an e-reader and downloading as and when I want a new book. They push students to not only apply their math skills, but also to be problem solvers as they unlock codes and solve a mystery. Adding Integers Digital Escape RoomĮscape rooms are a great way to get students practicing in a new way. Using Quizizz to get more practice with integers is relatively low prep and can have a great impact on fluency for adding and subtracting integers. I have them look at their accuracy and make sure that they are improving from day to day. I have students record how they are doing in the back of their notebook. One of the cool things about Quizizz is that there’s a little friendly competition and kids love to do the challenge each day. (Once again you have to remind students to not use a calculator.) This helped us as a grade level to see how we’re doing and help students to get better. All of the 8th grade classes, for example, used the same code. Then, I got the activity’s code for the day and shared it. I made the Quizizz questions or borrowed them from another teacher in the public bank within Quizizz for each daily activity. We spent many days working on Quizizz games with adding and subtracting integers. If you’re familiar with Kahoot, it’s similar in the way students are presented with questions. Then, students can work on them at their own pace through “homework” mode. Quizizz is an online game that has many games available that other teachers have made for their classes, or you can create your own. We started using Quizizz as a way to practice fluency as a school. Yes! Sign me up for the Maze of the Month Club! Want to get more free, exclusive mazes? When you join the Maze of the Month Club you’ll get a free integers maze today (a printable AND a digital version), plus a middle school math maze on a variety of topics sent to your inbox each month. So, no matter what you’re teaching assignment involves, this resources is a great way for students to get more integers practice. These mazes have been updated to include both a printable and digital version. Students show their path by dragging and dropping the arrow images as they solve problems. These digital mazes are easy to assign in Google Classroom™ and keep students practicing. So, I created a digital version of these 3 integers mazes in Google Slides™. But what if you’re teaching online or in a one-to-one situation? No matter what format you’re teaching in, students really enjoy mazes. Mazes are great low-prep, high engagement activities to get students practicing. When they were finished and all problems were done correctly, then they moved on to the next activity. This gave me a perfect opportunity for specific and timely feedback for all students. When students finished their maze, they brought their maze and their work to the back table where I checked their maze. I also reminded students to refer to their interactive notebook about the rules for adding and subtracting integers while solving these problems. I had to remind them to not use a calculator. Students grabbed the maze on their way into the room and then they worked on it independently. I used these three mazes set over 3 days in a week, and then a couple of months later I used the same 3 mazes again. For my math lab students we started every class with a maze. I use mazes a lot in my classroom (you can read a bit more about the many ways they can be used here).
